Until now, Midtown's only Consulting magazine recognition was in 2015 when the firm was ranked No. 23 on our list of Fastest Growing Firms. This year, the Atlanta, Ga.-based firm cracks the list of Best Small Firms to Work For, ranking No. 15.

"Being a Best Small Firm to Work For has tremendous, positive impact on our employees and clients," says Jeff Elam, CEO of Midtown Consulting Group. "Happy employees mean higher quality delivery for our clients. We are at work over 50 percent of the hours that we're awake during the week, so our philosophy is to make your work place a great place to be."

And, apparently at Midtown, it is. Midtown has deep expertise in analytics, intelligence, modeling, predictive, and processing data for optimal results. MCG recognizes patterns, utilizes scientific methods, and captures meaningful insights to extract relevant data and yield results, Elam says. MCG consultants gather, analyze and synthesize various forms of data so they may be used to create efficiencies in processes.

By leveraging the immense power and breadth of data, MCGs helps clients to make informed, data driven decisions to achieve and exceed their enterprise goals.

Elam says the firm's internal mantra of "One Team" has definitely contributed to the firm's success. "It's brought us together to celebrate our differences and individual talents," he says. "This comes with transparency into the health of our business, access to the partners and open communication as we're all in the same boat. We all see a common goal and we work together to achieve it."

Day in and day out morale is sometimes affected by client responsibilities or ebbs and flows in normal consulting, but overall, the team makes Midtown an awesome place to work, Elam says.

When it comes to the clients and the work Midtown does for them, Elam says the focus of the next 12 months will remain what it's always been—"to focus on our client delivery through our one team," he says. "Looking forward, I'm really excited to seeing some of our projects deliver and continued building of our investments. We've spent a considerable amount of resources and time building out accelerators that set us apart from our competition, and I am super excited to see what the team creates next that helps improve our clients' business!"

On the survey, the firm excelled in the areas of Leadership and Culture, not surprising results,  Elam says. "I think it comes back to our mantra about wanting to work at a super progressive and cool place as one team. We subscribe to servant-leadership model—where all of our leaders work for everyone…not the other way around. This creates our One Team culture and really enables our employees to reach their full potential, ultimately delivering for our clients."

What is unique about your firm?

Elam: There's a lot of ways to answer this question—but I'll go with our "trifecta"—delivery approach, community and our people. We make investments in our accelerators—assets our clients can use to deliver more effectively and efficiency, in our community with many different events and in our people with training, outside career development and even in their health. These investments, in turn, equip our consultants to accelerate quality delivery, we call it the 'trifecta to superior delivery'.
