In 2019, L.E.K Consulting is on target to exceed its revenue projections, according to Stuart Jackson, Global Managing Partner of the firm. "We are seeing quite a few exciting opportunities, especially in emerging markets, and in our strongest sectors—including healthcare & life sciences, industrials, retail & consumer, and travel & transport," he says. "We continue to win important and challenging work. As our business grows, we are also expanding our geographic footprint, opening a number of new offices around the world."

And over the next 12 months, Jackson says he expects to continue the firm's global growth trajectory, with a particular focus on a number of L.E.K.'s smaller offices. "Specifically we will be focusing on strengthening our most important sectors– healthcare, retail & consumer, and industrials," he says.

Indeed, it's results like these that have helped the Boston and London-based L.E.K. land on the Best Firms to Work For list three of the last four years.

"As we continue to grow and open more offices globally, external acknowledgement becomes increasingly important," Jackson says. "Our staff not only take pride in being recognized by Consulting Magazine as a Best Firm to Work For, but the attributes that have helped us achieve that honor are what allow us to attract and retain top-notch professionals. The award lends us credibility with clients as well, since they understand that retaining an employer of choice means they will be working with the best our profession has to offer."

One key to the firm's success, Jackson says, is being a home for top talent in the consulting industry. This is what enables L.E.K. to compete effectively against larger generalist firms and deliver game-changing insights that lead to practical results with real impact for clients, Jackson says. "Being a home for top talent starts with the partners and other leaders of our firm who have the greatest influence with clients and on our staff. But the principle also extends to every level of our firm."

On the survey, the firm excelled in the areas of Client Engagement and Compensation & Benefits. "The client engagement rating is a reflection of the type of work we do and L.E.K.'s distinctive culture of accountability and ownership," Jackson says. "For the most part, the work we are brought in to perform tends to be highly strategic and critical to our clients' success."

Meanwhile, with respect to the compensation and benefits rating, "we believe that in order to attract the best professionals possible, we need to offer competitive packages," he says. "We stay abreast of the compensation in the markets where we have staff and make any adjustments we deem necessary."

Were there any specific programs or initiatives that contributed to you being a Best Firm to Work For?

Jackson: We have a range of programs designed to develop our people both personally and professionally. But beyond that, central to L.E.K.'s mission is a commitment to offering our staff an exciting and varied job experience where they can learn, grow, and work on projects that matter to them and have an impact on our clients' businesses and bottom line. Finally, coupling exciting career opportunities with true work-life balance is what makes us a Best Firm to Work For.
