Maine Point announced that SGS, the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, has acquired a majority stake in Maine Pointe, a  Boston-based Supply Chain and Operations firm focused on the Manufacturing, Packaged Goods, Retail, Transportation and Energy industry.

The acquisition will allow Maine Pointe to accelerate its goal of making Total Value Optimization a global standard for supply chain optimization, says Steven Bowen, Chairman and CEO of Maine Pointe.

"We were attracted to SGS by its platform and expertise. We are excited about the opportunity to expand our complementary businesses by leveraging our expertise across SGS's global network," Bowen says. "This combination will accelerate our vision of transforming our customers' supply chains into a competitive advantage on a global scale."

Maine Pointe's name will remain and operate as a distinctive business within SGS's Certification & Business Enhancement business unit. The acquisition will also help accelerate Maine Pointe's goal of making TVO the global standard for end-to-end supply chain optimization, Bowen says.

"We are excited about working with SGS to build our future. This transaction makes us stronger, smarter, more competitive and influential—a truly global network of professionals ready to help clients address increasingly complex global supply chain challenges," Bowen says.
