The 2019 Rising Stars of the Profession: Seth Bacon

At every stage of Seth Bacon's career, he has received mentorship and guidance by individuals highly respected in their professions. These examples of servant leadership have provided him a great foundation to which he aspires to mirror in his relationships with others. Taking the mentorship he's received, he has, in turn, invested in others, which has led to some of his proudest accomplishments.

The achievements he is most proud of are related to the recognition he has received from involvement in giving back. Dynamics Community recognized his volunteer efforts in 2018 with the Granite Award. "I was also nominated along with seven of my peers, for their prestigious All-Star award which is voted on by the world-wide community," he says.

Meanwhile at RSM, the accomplishment he's most proud of is capitalizing on the opportunity the firm gave him three years ago. RSM gave him the challenge of helping create a thriving technology practice in Seattle. "Seattle has become a center of excellence for our national practice," Bacon says. "The only constant in the technology world is change. I am most excited to be in a profession that requires me to learn every day. Working at RSM has allowed me to bring this constant learning to clients and team members alike."

The biggest factor to his success is twofold, he says. First, it is doing what he is passionate about every day with people who challenge him to be his best. The second is humility. "Something I remind myself, 'Everyone knows more about something than I do, so stop and listen.' Be humble and learn from others," he says.

Meanwhile, winning this award is a representation of all the investments others have made in him, he says. "I am thankful for those at RSM who have given me the chance to lead a group of talented individuals," Bacon says "I love the title of this award—Rising Star of the Profession—it means that the journey is not complete and there is more to come."
