The 2019 Rising Stars of the Profession: Chris Lippert

The thing that excites Schellman & Company's Chris Lippert most about his career is the constant evolution of technology, information management frameworks and regulations. Things are ever changing in today's world, which means that one always has to be on their toes, always have to be learning and always have to be open to new ways of thinking. "To me this is one of the most important things one can find in a career—something that you are passionate about that consistently pushes you to improve and learn," he says.

And while he's certainly had his share of success, he's quick to point out he couldn't get there on his own. "I think the biggest factor to my success has been the people to support me throughout my career, thus far. I think that the empowerment I have received from leadership at the firms I have worked for has been the key factor," Lippert says. "It is remarkable what can happen when you believe in the people you work with and empower those around you to reach greater heights."

And Lippert is sure to pay it forward by leading others, as well. "In my current role I am able to play a leadership role in the creation and ongoing development of the privacy practice," he says. "I find this to be my most important achievement as leadership is something I strive to improve on an ongoing basis. I can't get enough of leadership and career betterment books and seeing the work pay off is very rewarding."

And now, his work has paid off with being named one of the Rising Stars of the Profession. "Winning the award means a great deal to me as it's based on nominations from supervisors and peers," he says. "It is another form of the ample encouragement and support the people at Schellman have shown me thus far and I know will continue to show me in the future."
