17. Myrtle Consulting Group

Revenue Growth: 226%

HQ: Houston

Houston-based Myrtle Consulting Group is made up of a diverse team driving operational transformation. "What gets us out of bed in the morning is the fact that we are doing this for people," says Edwin Bosso, Founder and CEO. "We are doing this for our families. It is extremely important to be human and remain human. Being human is a primary skill of being a good consultant." Myrtle is focused on helping clients transform their businesses. "We want to be their preferred partner, and allow for the ability to sustain and continue to build on results," he says. Bosso sat down with Consulting to discuss Myrtle's success.

Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm's exceptional growth?

Bosso: There are three: One, our focus on doing exceptional work for our clients, not relenting until the work is done; two the ability to build relationships with global companies, expanding our work to other parts of the business to grant a sustainable platform of growth; three, the continued partnerships, as most of our clients have been working with us for several years.

Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?

Bosso:  2018 is another growth year for Myrtle. We have graduated to a level of financial independence and continue to grow and invest. We are starting to see results from our previous investments and are looking forward to continuous and stable growth in those areas.

Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2019?

Bosso:  2019 is going to be a good year for Myrtle. We have made investments in new regions, such as Canada and Latin America, that are starting to produce and translate into projects and long-term partnerships. We have additional partnerships and investments in other geographical areas in the UK, Europe and Africa with growing sectors in Energy, Chemicals, Metal and Mining. We expect to pass another threshold in 2019.

Consulting: What would you say are your firm's biggest challenges in 2019?

Bosso: The biggest challenge is going to be continuing to attract and train a solid group of consultants that personify what it means to be a Myrtle man or Myrtle woman. Our people are one of our biggest differentiators, and we expect them to live the Myrtle values and deliver the quality of work that our clients expect. We are investing into getting the right people onboard, upgrading performance management system and employee development processes in order to grow solid individuals that come to Myrtle for a career, not just a job.

Consulting: What does being named one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms mean to your firm, your employees and your clients?

Bosso:  I am not sure what it means to the Clients, but assume it authenticates their trust in us. For the Myrtle firm and our employees, it means a validation of our plans and what we do everyday. There is also a little bit of pride in it, but that also comes with a responsibility year over year to continue to build the right fundamentals and processes to make sure we are building the sort of business that we are aiming to become.
