As sure as the start of baseball season, allergies and tulips, our annual rite of spring has arrived—Top 25 Consultants season. It truly is one of my favorite times of the year, and that's not just because I happen to really like baseball, and tulips. Allergies I could do without. And as sure as the pollen covers everything, Consulting magazine covers the Top 25 Consultants. It's the time of year that I, along with a few others on the editorial selection committee, get to read about all of the  accomplishments of the top consultants.

With nearly 450 nominations, there was certainly plenty of achievement to go around. Trust us. If the Top 25 wasn't such an established brand—it dates all the way back to 2001—there's no doubt that we could turn this into a Top 50, or even a Top 100. It would certainly make the final cuts a lot easier, that's for sure. But I suppose that selectivity is one of the best parts of the Top 25; there are so few winners compared to the number of nominations. The Top 25 Consultants is an incredibly elite award.

And, once again, we've done our very best to capture the true essence of all the extraordinary client work that's going on courtesy of this year's winners. And unfortunately, too many of the impactful results we read about as part of the nomination process can't be shared publicly. That's a shame, but it's also the reality of the profession. It's too bad only a handful of us at Consulting magazine know all about them. But, of course, your clients know all about them, too.

What we can do, however, is work to bring editorial justice to these nominations. And we sure hope we're able do just that with this special 38-page section.

Year in and year out, the Top 25 Consultants all have one thing in common—they let nothing stop them from delivering their absolute best day in and day out. If only your favorite baseball team did the same.
