Paul Schuhmacher loves learning and solving complex problems and he gets the opportunity to do it every single day. "Healthcare is an industry that is rapidly changing and many of the things we are working on have no roadmap, which pushes us to blaze new trails and create cutting edge solutions for our clients," he says. "The stakes are high and I am motivated by the problems that seemed unsolvable and the challenges that lie ahead."

Schuhmacher is a director in AArete's Strategy & Operations practice and has over 10 years of experience across a variety of industries including extensive experience in healthcare. He works with several large national payers, regional payers, and integrated health systems.

"Relationships are extremely important to me and I work everyday to make sure my clients realize value from our work with them," Schuhmacher says. "Anytime a client asks me to return or extends their engagement with us, I see that as a great achievement. I am proud of the relationships I have built and we are able to create significant changes within an organization."

He specializes in using data analytics to drive strategic decisions and operational improvements that result in significant bottom-line improvement with minimal disruption to an organization. "Healthcare is an incredible industry to work in because our work not only affects a company's bottom line, but it impacts the quality of treatment patients receive, a patient's access to quality care, and an organization's ability to keep their doors open," he says.

Joining AArete was truly a life changing decision for him, he says. "I joined the firm as the 12th employee and have had the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the company. Watching the firm grow to nearly 200 employees has been a unique experience and provided a significant learning opportunity for me."
