The 2018 Rising Stars of the Profession: Kevin Hulsebosch

Kevin Hulsebosch, who was recently promoted to manager at West Monroe Partners at just 27 years of age, is the youngest recipient of the firm's Sequoia award for mentorship and leadership for his commitment to growing the next generation of leaders.

"I'm most proud of the Sequoia Award that I received last year, which is an internal recognition of excellent mentors within West Monroe. We have a strong, people-centric culture and this award is considered one of the most desired honors in the company," Hulsebosch says. "It was humbling to read the nomination my team submitted on my behalf. That means the world to me."

He's going to need a little more room in his trophy case as he's bringing home a Rising Stars award. "I think this award says more about my team than it does about me, and I'm extremely grateful."

Or maybe the award will find its way to the family trophy case, as Kevin's dad—Tom Hulsebosch, West Monroe's Energy & Utilities leader—was recognized as one of last year's Consulting's Top 25 Consultants.

"My dad always told me to 'plan your work and work your plan.' It's a simple saying, but has been extraordinarily effective for me. Nothing is better for peace of mind than a solid plan—especially during the hectic periods of a project when it feels like there will be no way to get everything done," Hulsebosch says. "But, consulting isn't just planning and strategy; it's also about execution, which is often even more difficult. To be a good consultant, it's critical to be able to 'work your plan' and see the job through to the end."

Meanwhile, his knowledge of Banking, Commercial Treasury Management and Salesforce position him uniquely in the firm and in the market.  "I enjoy the continuous challenge of solving problems that a consulting career offers," he says. "No two days are the same, which keeps my job fresh, exciting, and rewarding."
