The HCI Group
CEO
Richard Caplin, CEO of The HCI Group, says that "we're at a very exciting time in healthcare. I don't think we're going to recognize the way healthcare is done today in 10 years, maybe even five. We all know that change is coming. A lot of companies and health systems are leading."
Caplin is a leading entrepreneur who has launched and led multiple organizations that have created thousands of jobs, including The HCI Group—one of the largest global healthcare IT consulting firms.
"I'm really excited being a global leader in healthcare technology consulting and knowing a lot of these healthcare IT leaders around the globe, to be a platform and a catalyst for that," he says. "We may not come up with all the best ideas ourselves, but oftentimes our clients and partners will. Being that platform for a lot of them to speak, we're sitting in an exciting and unique place, of this I am very proud."
Following a March 2017 merger between The HCI Group and Tech Mahindra, Caplin became one of the top global executives at Tech Mahindra, a global technology company with 117,000+ employees. Under his leadership, the combined companies are thriving through their continued support of the adoption of digital technologies in the healthcare space.
"HCI prides itself on the positive approach and quality of work we produce, and our reputation with our customers is of paramount importance," he says. "The track record we have built is of enormous importance to everyone at the company and, as HCI continues to expand, grow and win new work around the globe, it is of vital importance that the principles and standards remain the same."
To that end, Caplin says being able to draw on the vast experience within the leadership team, strategically planning ahead, being flexible enough to adapt to the ever-changing marketplace and a tremendously skilled and talented staff have all contributed to his success.
The HCI Group appreciates the unique differences in global healthcare and is working effectively to help deliver highly customized healthcare-technology systems and applications to clients and "I can make a difference and provide a positive impact upon peoples' lives and that is the greatest motivator one can have."
As far as being recognized as one of the Global Leaders, Caplin says it's a "great honor to be recognized for all the hard work and dedication that the HCI team put in. It's always humbling to be recognized by your peers and this is an award we are very proud to hold because of its status and reputation."
Q&A: What do you enjoy most about your work and the consulting profession?
Caplin: "The opportunity to meet like-minded people, industry thought leaders and people who are passionate about their profession, to be able to openly share ideas and collaborate to find the solutions and opportunities to improve current healthcare IT challenges."
