With offices in Portland, Ore. and San Francisco, Propeller helps clients provide simpler, more efficient solutions to their customers' challenges. Propeller consultants work alongside client teams to deliver project management, business consulting and change management results that help them nimbly negotiate an increasingly volatile business landscape. Amy Weeden, Co-Founder & Managing Partner of Propeller, sat down with Consulting to discuss Propeller's performance.
Consulting: What were the factors that contributed to your firm's growth?
Weeden: From an employee perspective, we have a wide range of benefits, including working and living in the same city with no travel, and numerous employee culture events, but our key differentiator is our focus on recruiting exceptional talent and emphasis on employee development. From a client perspective, we help simplify complex business problems and identify the steps needed to get to the solution. We customize our solutions to each client need which means that we avoid the one-size-fits all approach and with each solution, our consultants deliver business results through hands on execution. Finally, we are agile and adaptive. Our consultants embed themselves within client organizations and it's the emphasis on the "we" that effectively drives change.
Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?
Weeden: Propeller has seen major growth this year in both our Portland and newly developed San Francisco offices and have added some exceptional talent to our team. We have also invested heavily in our capabilities around agile transformation and change management.
Consulting: How would you describe your firm's outlook for 2018? Where do you see the most opportunities?
Weeden: As a firm, we are focused on continued growth. We have a smaller team in our relatively new San Francisco office and we'll continue to grow the talent in the Bay Area. In keeping with our people focused culture, we also plan to roll out an employee ownership framework this year. Growth also means expanding our scope and the value that we bring to our clients. We are being asked to tackle bigger and more strategic business problems and our firm is rising to the occasion to deliver for our clients. Our clients are in dynamic industries with many business opportunities; yet are also threatened by disruption from the digital economy. We are excited to partner with clients to help them capitalize on the new economy and drive growth.
Consulting: What would you say are your firm's biggest challenges in 2018?
Weeden: Exceptional talent always has many employment options and we will continue to work hard to make Propeller an outstanding place to work. We invest heavily in recruitment and development of our talent and will continue to do so.
Consulting: What does being named one of Consulting's Fastest Growing Firms mean to your firm, your employees and your clients?
Weeden: Being recognized nationally as a fastest growing firm has a large impact for our firm, our employees, and our clients. This truly shows that we are hiring the right people, consistently building a great work culture, and doing exceptional work for our clients.
