Managing Director, Human Services

Excellence in Leadership

Last year, Julie Booth's team was able to sell over $1 billion in services to Human Services clients, which far exceeded expectations. But don't expect Booth to take the credit for it.

"My team is the biggest factor to my success," Booth says. "I find people who I trust and believe in. I spend time up front with them to make sure they are on the right track. I make sure they have what they need to be successful and that they are motivated and empowered. They are a truly fantastic team."

Ask her what accomplishment she's most proud of over the last year and she says, "My team has excelled in many ways over the last 12 months" and points to successfully implemented customer self-service systems for five states on-time, meeting the Affordable Care Act deadlines.

"This is a significant achievement because many other states struggled with this implementation," Booth says. "I am happy for our clients and for their customers who can now apply online for critical services, using our systems."

And ask her how she feels about winning a Top 25 Award: "I know that the reason I won is because of my phenomenal team who work hard for our clients every single day. It means a lot to me to be recognized, not just for me, but for them," Booth says.

Booth is Managing Director for Accenture's Human Services practice for State, Provincial and Local Government and oversees all of Accenture's human services projects and project teams, which include all projects in the areas of integrated social services, child services, pensions, workforce/employment, and nonprofits.

So, it's no surprise that she's so keenly focused on others. With Accenture for over two decades, Booth says she "absolutely loves meeting with clients and co-workers and staff—the personal relationships I build give me energy. I also enjoy seeing the end result of our work and knowing what we do in human services ultimately helps people in need and helps government workers do their job more effectively."

And Booth says she is proud of the progress Accenture has made in increasing diversity at the firm. "I personally am very passionate and active in promoting our women having led "Changing the Face of the Practice".
On a daily personal level, she says she simply likes a good challenge and to problem solve.
"I thrive on having many activities going on at once. I also enjoy having fun at work and empowering others to as well since the work we do is often very challenging," Booth says. "Life is too short so it is important to have fun and enjoy our work."

What motivates you to excel day in and day out?

"What motivates me has always been a personal drive to do more and to do better. I am always up for a new challenge. I have been that way since I was a little girl. My mom and dad must have been exhausted with all the activities I was in. My dad worked for IBM until he passed away when I was 25. He always supported me and told me to get an Electrical Engineering degree, like he did, because I could do many things with it. We are very much alike and I often think of him during key trials "boy, I wish I could get his advice on this" and in times of accomplishment "I know he would be proud."
