Accenture's Samantha Malden is a fast-track success story. Only three years after joining the firm, she's already advanced to a key management position and is recognized internally as a rising leader, innovator and role model for women. And now, she's been recognized for some of those same qualities externally, as well.
"Winning the Rising Stars of the Profession award has demonstrated to me that the hard work I have put into my career has been acknowledged and it says, to me, a big 'Thank you'," she says.
Malden is Accenture's Test Lead for Core Integration on the UK Department of Work and Pensions (DWP)Universal Credit IT program, a critical role in one of the largest UK government IT implementations to date. This daunting, publicly-scrutinized transformational project integrates complex systems, moving DWP to a web-based portal for faster and better delivery of citizens' benefits.
"Consulting is dynamic and fast paced environment that is always changing, whether it be changes in technology or changes in client," Malden says. "This aspect of continuous change is what I find to be the most exciting part of consulting."
She credits Accenture for her success, saying she works in an atmosphere where everyone supports each other, which allows her to step outside comfort zones in order to achieve.
"I work in a dynamic and fast paced environment, experiencing cross culture teams and being surrounded by people who are highly motivated, conscientious and hard-working who have the enthusiasm and ability to succeed," she says. "It is through the support networks that I have been able to push boundaries and try new things early on in my career."
