JACKIE MORRIS
IBM
TITLE: Senior Consultant
AWARD CATEGORY: Client Service
AGE: 24
Another wunderkind on this year's list of Rising Stars is 24-year-old Jackie Morris, a consultant at IBM who peers say has a pragmatic problem solving sensibility and an ability to interact with executives with a level of confidence that far exceeds her years.
Don't let her age fool you; Morris' responsibilities far outweigh her 24 years. Her peers marvel at her ability to seemingly pull rabbits out of her hat, perhaps most notably taking just a few sentences of direction and turning it into what became a core component of IBM's analytics strategy offering for the Life Sciences industry.
Morris says the state of advanced analytics, which is her main focus, is a source of big excitement and opportunity.
"As a consultant with a focus on advanced analytics, it's a really exciting time. Big Data and advanced analytics provide opportunities for our clients to build competitive strategies around data-driven in- sights. Being at the frontier of an industry means I get to collaborate with clients on unprecedented and innovative projects—and that is really rewarding."
When asked about her proudest achievements, she cited recognition from a client about the long-term impact of her work.
"One of my proudest moments was when I heard from a previous client that a delivery model I developed is still being used today in their group, as well as by others in the company, truly validating the long-term value and relevance of my work."
As for this latest recognition, Morris called the Rising Stars of the Profession Award "fantastic recognition for IBM's university hire program and credit to the strong results young consultants can deliver."
