Ian Reither is a fast mover. For example, within his firm, Trexin Consulting, he rose to Principal Consultant faster than anyone ever organically had before him. He also helped bring from concept to operation Chicago-based Land of Lincoln Health (LLH), a new type of private nonprofit health insurer classified by the Affordable Care Act, in less than nine months. Not bad for someone who's only been legally allowed to rent a car for a few months.
Reither says what makes him proudest is simply doing good work for clients. "My greatest achievements and accomplishments are gaining the satisfaction of each individual client that I serve, no matter how small or limited the scope of the task. Every single project has a client that is putting their trust in the delivery of a successful outcome; going above and beyond for a client and seeing the end result is what makes me most proud."
He credits a combination of factors for his success, including working with loyal, intellectually curious teams, as well as calculated risks. "The real wins in my career have come from putting my neck on the line and taking initiative, seeking to improve my own self-awareness, and working to identify and solve for risks."
He cites variety of experiences and a range of learning experiences as the most exciting aspects of the profession to him.
"I thrive in high energy, evolving environments. A career in consulting is unique because it allows me to constantly work on new problems, help companies to navigate disruption, and innovate on a daily basis."
As far as the Rising Stars award: "The acknowledgment of great work that we have been involved in as a firm is a fantastic feeling."
