Kaylin KuglerFuture Leader Award

Kaylin Kugler
Principal Consultant
Capco

Kaylin Kugler's introduction to the world of consulting was during a college career fair where she met with a recruiter for a large consulting firm. She had no idea what consulting was but knew she wanted a challenging career that allowed her to expand her knowledge, solve problems and provide variety throughout the work day. Today, as a Principal Consultant at Capco, she's got that, for sure.

"One of the best aspects of consulting is the people I have been fortunate enough to work with—from clients and team members, as well as Capco's management team," she says. "At Capco, I am able to continually meet and learn more about others—both professionally and personally—satisfying my inquisitive nature."

Kugler, who specializes in client delivery with a focus in retail lending, has over seven years of financial services consulting experience. She says she is fortunate to have had the pleasure of working with some incredible people at Capco, and all have been willing to share their wisdom and knowledge to allow her to grow professionally.

"In addition to the tremendous support I receive from Capco, it's through the lasting relationships and trust I have developed with my clients that truly drives me to deliver high quality work and ensure their expectations are met," Kugler says.

Kugler also is a leader in Women@Capco, the firm's women's network. In that role, she was asked recently what advice she would give to a female consultant just beginning her career. Her answer: "Be open to all new experiences—consulting will give you the structure and support to expand your knowledge and reach for new goals and responsibilities.

"Find a way to make sure you are noticeable within your team and become irreplaceable (to both your company and to your client) through your work product, work ethic and/or, positive attitude," she says. Finally, "relationships are the most important aspect of your industry so find ways to make personal connections with team members, clients and management."
As far as winning the award, Kugler says she is in awe to have earned the respect and recognition from colleagues, management and clients as a future leader.

"I am extremely honored to be recognized in such a way," she says. "It is because of their support, guidance and coaching that pushes me to become better every day."

What would you say is your greatest personal or professional achievement?

"Since I was little, I have always set goals for myself, regardless of whether they were achievable or not. In knowing what I was trying to accomplish, I was able to work tactically and strategically towards the goals and ultimately find success. Consulting magazine's Future Leader Award is an achievement unlike any others because it was not something I was working towards. In sharing the news of my award, my parents said: 'this is something you will never forget because you didn't try for this. Your peers and clients have put forth the effort to recognize you for your talent and leadership and that speaks volumes.' I am extremely grateful to receive this prestigious award."
