Leadership Award
Barbara Rothenstein
Senior Vice President
Protiviti
Barbara Rothenstein, whose career path has been a rather circuitous one, says the Women Leaders in Consulting Award brings the many puzzle pieces of her career together. "It is an enormous honor, and I am thrilled by the confidence and sponsorship of the entire Protiviti organization," she says of the award.
As far as that circuitous career path, she began hers as a comparative literature major and an amateur dancer/choreographer where she learned about the field of performing arts administration. Rothenstein went back to school part time to get an MBA with a concentration in accounting.
"My goal was to get back into the performing arts industry armed with improved skills to advance. On that path, I decided it worthwhile to become certified (CPA) and so needed one year of experience with a CPA firm, she says. She joined Arthur Andersen and immensely enjoyed the work, ultimately moving into operations.
"I never quite made it back into the arts." Instead, she became one of the original Protiviti founding members in 2002. Today, she serves as Senior Vice President, Global Finance & Field Operations for the firm where she oversees Protiviti's global finance function, various field operations and business processes.
In addition to leading the finance team, she focuses on streamlining business processes; acquisition integration; real estate/office planning and management; quality risk management (QRM) processes; and serving as Protiviti's liaison to parent company Robert Half on IT matters.
