6. Solstice Consulting
Part of the magic of the Best Firms to Work For survey is the opportunity for a firm that was previously flying under the radar to stand up and be recognized by delivering extraordinary results. Solstice is one of those firms.
While Solstice first came to Consulting magazine's attention three years ago when it was named one of the magazine's Seven Small Jewels. However, this year, it has the distinction of being the highest-ranked newcomer—No. 6—on the Best Small Firms to Work For list.
"It's the ideal validation for what we see and feel every day, because this is something we have achieved as a cohesive team, not something put forth and administered by leadership," says Creighton Grose, Vice President of Marketing & Sales for Solstice. "Every single employee at Solstice has an active role in shaping the organization, informing our culture, and ensuring the enrichment and satisfaction of all employees."
Clients select Solstice, he says, not just for its expertise, but also for the way the firm operates as a team. "We have carefully cultivated an ecosystem that sparks creativity, empowers the entrepreneurial spirit, rewards initiative and fosters collaboration," Grose says.
"We feel strongly that as long as we continue to hire great people, and provide those people with outlets to share their knowledge and experience with the community, the stream of new opportunities will continue to flow."
To that end, Grose says talent is what makes Solstice special, and the success starts with creating an incredible environment for the brightest minds in technology. "We succeed when we've created experiences that our clients' customers and employees love to be a part of," he says.
"We are in an always-on mode of recruiting—demand is high, and our standards are even higher. It can be an exacting science to maintain the culture we have built, while constantly adding to our team to meet market demand, and deliver the executional precision for which we are known."
On this year's survey, the firm scored highest in the areas of career development & culture. "Our team works hard to challenge the norm and make our clients first in their industry," Grose says. "We are continuously improving our own processes, while also moving our clients' business forward."
WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE REMAINDER OF THIS YEAR AND 2014, WHAT EXCITES YOU?
Creighton Grose, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, says: "The world of enterprise mobility and innovation is changing rapidly. The consumerization of IT is pushing boundaries and forcing the enterprise to develop apps that meet the needs and expectations of their employees. The development budgets are also swiftly transferring from IT to the CMO, pushing the need for a mobile center of excellence with mobile governance being a key issue. The Internet of Things is also pushing mobile beyond our phones and tablets allowing us to interact with the world around us. From mobile payments, and mobile health initiatives, to contextual computing and mobile commerce, every industry is in a volatile state. Our goal is to continue to evolve and be on the leading edge of technology so that we remain the go-to partner for any business challenge."
