15. PwC
Ask Miles Everson, U.S. Advisory Leader for PwC, who is the ideal candidate to join the firm and he'll say: "We thrive on diversity and have people from different cultural, educational, social and geographic backgrounds. With such a diverse set of clients and capabilities that our firm delivers, it's what makes our business work," Everson says. "The one thing that PwC people have in common is a passion to help people be successful, to build lasting relationships, to find new ways to solve problems, to work together to create value. In short, our people want to make a difference."
And they are, for sure. Everson says the world is more dynamic than ever, and that continues to create a number of exciting opportunities for clients and consultants. He points to several megatrends and economic factors that are reshaping the way the world works, such as changes in health industries, the continued evolution of the financial services landscape and the vast amount of data at our fingertips.
"Our clients need to move quickly to stay ahead, and we have the opportunity to help them focus on the factors most important to their business and to capitalize on those opportunities to create new value," he says. "In addition, that creates new opportunities for our people."
And those people, he says, are the key differentiator for the firm. "Our people are truly committed to creating value for their clients and to helping their colleagues succeed," he says. "That comes through in everything we do. We build relationships that last, we work to truly understand our clients' needs and challenges, and we deliver. It's a simple concept but something that sets us apart."
Everson says that each year, aside from the Best Firms to Work For survey results, PwC ask its people for feedback. "We listen to that feedback and, importantly, act on it," he says. "We have very high engagement scores and continue to drive them even higher."
Five consecutive years as one of the Best Firms to Work For is the result. "It's an honor and something that we are proud of at PwC," he says. "Being on this list signals to our clients, our people, and our leaders that we are on the right path."
And that path is a new one for Everson, who, having recently assumed the role of U.S. Advisory Leader, is off to a great start. "A top priority of mine is to ensure that we position our business to sustain the record growth we have achieved over the past several years," he says. "We have a solid foundation in place and are helping our clients in new and meaningful ways. We have an opportunity to take that to the next level—to be a truly differentiated professional services firm with unmatched capabilities and relevance to our clients."
WERE THERE ANY SPECIFIC INITIATIVES THAT CONTRIBUTED TO BEING NAMES A BEST FIRM?
Miles Everson, U.S. Advisory Leader, PwC, says: "We have a comprehensive set of programs and people dedicated to making PwC a place to build a rewarding career. For example, we have a leading learning and development program, a number of flexibility options, several diversity initiatives, and more. If I had to attribute it to one specific thing, though, it's not a particular program or initiative. It's our culture. We value and respect each other and that comes through in everything we do and the behaviors we value."
