Capco Amla 12. Capco

If slow and steady wins the race, Capco is setting itself up for a good run. The financial services firm debuted on the Best Firms to Work For list three years ago at No. 14. Last year, the firm was ranked No. 13. This year, Capco continues its slow but steady climb up with a No. 12 ranking.

This award recognizes the people at all levels at Capco who strive every day to create a work environment where innovation, diversity, authenticity and the ability to think differently are encouraged and welcomed," says Ismail Amla, CEO, North America for Capco. "The award recognizes the critical leadership role our employees play in creating a world-class work environment, and reconfirms for our clients that they engage with some of the best talent in the market—professionals who are as passionate about creating the next-generation consulting company as they are about creating the future of finance."

And, he says, the award inspires Capco to continue investing in its people by providing a work environment where they are empowered, challenged and completely energized by helping clients succeed.

"Employee engagement at Capco is measured on an annual basis via an employee survey and throughout the year with project pulse surveys," Amla says. "Our employee engagement scores are consistently in the top quartile and categorize us as a high-performing organization."

Multiple initiatives contribute to this employee engagement, he says, including Capco's learning and development programs, diversity and inclusiveness initiatives, leadership focus, and strong culture of recognition, corporate social responsibility and meritocracy. The firm even awards two performance ratings—one for business results and client work, and another for each individual's contribution to building Capco's community, culture and brand.

Capco "Our employees are always the key to our success and we believe in investing in our most important assets," Amla says. "We've put a stronger focus on learning and development, and we've added a Partner level school in addition to our other level-focused training programs."

And when it comes to vacations, Capco sure doesn't mess around. Amla says the firm believes time off is essential. To that end, the firm gives a once-a-year $1,000 "vacation bonus" when someone takes 10 consecutive workdays off.

And well-rested employees will be important because Amla says he sees huge change on the horizon for the financial services industry. "To adapt with the social, economic and political shifts in the world, there needs to be a disruption of traditional workplace technologies and processes. Social media can be leveraged to create the needed disruption and support the necessary cultural change," he says. "And we aim to be at the forefront of driving it."

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR FIRM? WHAT SETS IT APART FROM YOUR COMPETITORS?
Ismail Amla, Capco's CEO, North America, says: "We believe Capco's organizational culture is critical to our success. We believe each individual we ask to join us should bring value not only to their clients but to their colleagues as well. Our employees bring a point of view to the table, have a passion for financial services, and are truly interested in making a difference for our clients, our people and our communities. We often say we are 'large enough to matter, but small enough to care."
