Ralph Tuliano is CEO of Mesirow Financial Consulting, which provides litigation and investigative services, corporate recovery, valuation services, interim management, operations and performance improvement, distressed M&A and capital raising services, alternative investment services, due diligence services and technology advisory services.
"In the restructuring field, every engagement is different and involves a complex array of financial, operational and legal issues that must be addressed to achieve a successful result," he says. "The opportunity to assist clients in addressing these challenging issues provides a strong motivation to succeed."
Tuliano, who has over 25 years of experience providing litigation, forensic accounting, valuation, restructuring and related services on a variety of assignments, has provided expert services and damages assessments on a variety of complex commercial litigation matters, including fraudulent conveyance, securities fraud, intellectual property and breach of contract assignments. "Quality, dedication and reliability are attributes that I endeavor to bring to each client matter," he says. "I sincerely value the client relationships and friendships that I have had the opportunity to grow over the past 25 years in this profession."
Those relationships and friendships are certainly a part of Tuliano's success. But ask him what he's most proud of and he'll point to the recognition the firm has achieved over the last 12 months.
"This year, MFC was retained in several high-profile engagements," he says. That list includes being the financial advisors to the examiner in the ResCap bankruptcy. MFC also was awarded recently with both the Restructuring Firm of the Year for 2012 and Turnaround Firm of the Year by The M&A Advisor, he says. "I am proud of our engagements and awards, which together recognize the dedication of our professionals to our clients," Tuliano says.
Tuliano says he has always operated with integrity and strived to do what's right in complex and ambiguous situations, which has been a key factor in his success. "I'm also very lucky to have a supportive family, which I believe is essential to a successful career as a consultant."
He is also is quick to point out that he has been fortunate to be supported by very talented and motivated people, many of whom he has worked with for more than a decade. "Our clients are sophisticated legal and financial professionals who require and deserve exceptional service, and no one individual is capable of providing the quality of service needed to advise sophisticated clients with respect to complex financial issues," he says. "It is truly a team effort, and I am fortunate to be part of the Mesirow Financial team of professionals."
Q&A: What does winning the Top 25 award mean to you, your firm and your clients?
"Winning the Top 25 award in the leadership category is very meaningful in the context of my role within Mesirow Financial Consulting. Having the responsibility to lead is a privilege that one has to earn through hard work, leading by example and helping others succeed. It is truly a team award and would not be possible absent the tremendous support of my family, my firm and colleagues, and our clients."
