Scott Claus is a Partner at Capco and leader of the Technology Group in North America where he helps CIO and IT leaders rebuild their IT organizations and refine IT delivery processes. Claus has executed a variety of financial services IT strategy engagements, and led a number of large-scale systems implementation efforts, both onshore and offshore.

He says he would attribute his success to two major factors—the amount of collaboration with fellow partners and the work of Capco's Executive Management team, which empowers client serving teams and partners to excel.

"The leadership team at Capco, in particular, has trusted me to grow the practice and is committed to helping me do so," Claus says. "For me, it's working with and exceeding client expectations as a team, which in turn provides a growth platform and motivation for our people."

And over the past year, the Capco technology team has seen enormous growth in talent and potential, he says. "The team's commitment to building out the practice has allowed us to transform from a thought leadership and strategy group, to one that clients see as a trusted partner to deliver and execute complex technology projects," Claus says.

One such example: Within just eight months, he says, his team was able to open the Orlando Delivery Center, as part of our new Architecture as a Service offering. "The facility is now up and running successfully and we continue to bring more consultants to the center."

In addition, Claus says he enjoys seeing Capco consultants grow their careers as a result of the firm's growth. "As Capco grows, there will continue to be opportunities for people," he says. "This award is a great acknowledgment of the hard work by the team I have worked with for many years, whose dedication has built the practice into what it is today."

However, he says, none of this could have happened without delivering great work to clients and continuing to build trust with them. "We've built a lot of client loyalty over the years, and we are always striving to do our absolute best possible work," Claus says. "I have been in consulting for 23 years, and over those years have been able to build such a tight network of trusted clients to the point where they are advising me as much as I'm advising them."

As for winning the Top 25 award, Claus says it's a great recognition of a lot of hard work, long hours, travel, and especially the sacrifice from his family. "I really see this as recognition of my family's support more than anything I have achieved in my career," he says. "In addition, I've had the pleasure of working with—and for—some great leaders in this industry, whose outstanding qualities I have tried to mimic as a leader and client serving professional."

Q&A: What stands out the most about the work you do?

"The trust we are able to build with our clients over time is second-to-none. Not only are we thought leaders in the industry, but we are also able to take things from strategy all
the way through to execution; we're capable of rolling up our sleeves to deliver complex technology work to our clients. I really enjoy the leadership aspect of my role within the practice, working with a client on an engagement and leading them through troubled times. I find I'm at my best guiding people in the most difficult situations, bringing a level of creativity to solving challenging problems."
