Monica Croy
Healthcare Practice Director
Point B
Excellence in Healthcare
Monica Croy has been described as a consultant with a "unifying vision, an unparalleled client-service ethic, and a unique ability to develop leadership." She has also been described as "an enlightened developer of talent" within Point B, knowing her colleagues at an intuitive level.
"One of my biggest accomplishments over the last year was an internal success," she says. "I ran the design and implementation teams that restructured Point B in a way that allows for a more distinct range of opportunities for associates and also focuses our practices to bring even more successful outcomes for our clients."
It's these types of skill sets that serve the 20-year veteran in organizational design and change management, so well. She currently serves as Healthcare Practice Director for Point B, where she is responsible for 40 percent of the firm's associates and revenue.
Her teams help clients develop and execute strategies from a broad spectrum of the Healthcare continuum, including care delivery innovation, Healthcare IT systems, Health insurance exchanges, administrative transformation—and all points in between.
"It's all about my team. I have a group that trusts me to lead them to opportunities to do the big, the difficult, or the complex," she says. Success, she says, comes from coworkers and clients who have entrusted "their complicated, gnarly, seemingly unsolvable problems to me and to Point B. When I've taken on a big challenge with a supportive team, we've been able to make our own good luck and fortune."
But it's much more than good luck that has brought Croy, and Point B, good fortune. It's her own, internal standards that she sets and forces herself to live up to. "I have this innate, core belief that all things can be done better," she says. "At its best, it shows up as a vision of a bright future and a clear path to it. I've also heard throughout my career that same innate drive can get stuck in overdrive. I'll tune that up and improve it!
Croy is an active Board member of the Greater Washington MS Society, a team captain for the Bike MS fundraiser and a certified, Six Sigma Master Black Belt. She can now add Top 25 Consultant to that list. "Winning this award for Excellence in Healthcare validates Point B's experience and expertise in healthcare consulting. I'd love for Point B's healthcare clients to view this award as something they can share in—that our success was because we helped them be more successful," Croy says.
"To me personally, it means that I may get another year of my teenage boys thinking I'm a little bit cooler."
Q&A: What stands out the most about the work you do?
"My hope is that the highlight of the work I do is how other people are better for it—be that my team, a client organization, the community or my family.
