National Managing Partner, Advisory Practice
KPMG
Excellence in Client Service

Carl Carande is the National Managing Partner of KPMG Advisory Practice. He has 25 years of Commercial and Retail Banking experience with major U.S. global and regional banks in the areas of Merger Integration, Commercial Product Pricing and Analysis, Productivity Modeling, Process Reengineering and Internal Control Best Practices.

That level of experience, no doubt, has helped Carande navigate KPMG through some of the most tumultuous years of late. "As we know, the economy has been challenging for some time now. Yet despite these turbulent times, KPMG's Advisory practice continues to achieve strong results across our service groups," Carande says. "That's a credit not only to leadership, but also to the thousands of our partners and professionals who go the extra mile and put our clients first every day."

Those results, he says, confirm how well KPMG's value proposition is resonating with clients. "I've experienced great satisfaction from the recovery and success of several clients I have served that have successfully navigated the financial crisis and executed strategic plans that will allow them to thrive in the new economy," he says. "It's critically important to put the best interest of my clients at the top of my agenda and continually bring the full breadth of the firm to address their business challenges."

However, it's also critically important, he says, to be committed to his team. Carande has led teams that have supported various components of post-deal integration execution for several top ten banks.

"You need to lead by example and to inspire people to high performance so everyone works together to provide best-in-class service," Carande says. "On a more personal level, mentoring has been an invaluable and rewarding experience. It's not only an opportunity to help others, but in many ways it can help us learn about ourselves and reflect on our own strengths and weakness."

It's also being generous in giving credit and recognition to those who have worked to help you get the job done right, he says.

Carande says he gets real satisfaction helping clients achieve their desired objections. He has provided assistance to several large, mid-tier and community banks in the areas of commercial product pricing and analysis. "I hope I can leave a legacy at KPMG that comprises partners and professionals that I have mentored who will go on to help the firm continue to grow," he says.

"Another rewarding part is the opportunity to work with some extremely talented people, not only within KPMG, but also at our clients, as well as other leaders within the industries we serve."

Q&A: What does winning the Top 25 award mean to you, your firm, and your clients?

"Knowing the caliber of the industry leaders who have been recognized by Consulting magazine, I can only say that I'm humbled to be joining their number. It's recognition not only for me, but also for the entire team at KPMG and the solid relationships we have with our clients."
