It's celebration time around here. For starters, this issue—our annual Top 25 Consultants issue—is one of the biggest and most prestigious awards we bestow upon the consulting profession. Each spring, our editorial committee wades through several hundred (this year, about 400) nominations to choose just the Top 25 Consultants for the year. Their stories can be found in the special Top 25 Consultants section.
And just a few weeks ago, on April 18, Consulting hosted The Profession's Best Small Firms Awards dinner at the W Chicago City Center. That gathering was designed to recognize the efforts of the profession's smaller firms—the ones that so often fly below the radar, except when we discover them as part of our Seven Small Jewels or our Best Small Firms to Work For rankings.

Actually, one of those who picked up an award in Chicago—Kevin McCarty, President of West Monroe Partners—also happens to be a 2013 Top 25. (The same goes for Jim Lewis, CEO of Cumberland Consulting. Lewis was supposed to be at the Chicago dinner but bad weather—or air traffic controller furloughs—kept him from attending.)
But both Lewis and McCarty will be in New York next month as we celebrate our fifth annual Top 25 Consultants Awards Dinner, one of the profession's preeminent events.
And at this very moment, our Best Firms to Work For and Best Small Firms to Work For surveys are live and will remain open through June 17. The September issue lists those 30 winning firms. Meanwhile, that same month, we'll be wrapping up the nomination process for our annual Women Leaders in Consulting Awards (it opens in July).
We'll celebrate those winners at a gala in New York on Nov. 7. A week later, we'll open the nominations for our 2014 Small Jewels Awards, which will be unveiled next March. And so it goes…
Giving credit where credit is due is a year-round business around here. What can I say? We like to celebrate the profession's accomplishments. Apparently, so do you!
