By Doug Lemov, Erica Woolway and Katie Yezzi
Jossey-Bass, 227 Pages; $26.95

Authors Doug Lemov, Erica Woolway and Katie Yezzi sure know their target audience. For a book written about taking personal responsibility to make yourself better, the three authors throw in a "42 Rules…" subhead. How's that for playing to the overachieving, Type A personality type this book is undoubtedly written for? And, those are the folks who often make businesses hum. The authors point out that practice shouldn't just be relegated to "hobbies" such as piano, golf or tennis. What about business acumen? Doesn't that need to be constantly practiced in order to be honed to perfection? Well, maybe not perfection, but improved. The authors are all about improving by engineering how one practices, right down to brain and behavioral science. Suggestions include "Let the mind follow the body " and "Replace your purpose with an objective."
