6) Meridian Compensation Partners
Last year, at barely a year old, Meridian Compensation Partners burst onto the scene at No. 12 on our Best Small Firms to Work For ranking. Now, with another year under its belt, Meridian is back again, this time at No. 6.
"We're pleased and privileged to have earned this recognition a second time in only our second year of being a standalone firm," says James Wolf, Managing Partner of Meridian Compensation Partners. "All our associates work hard at creating a great working environment at Meridian and enjoy being part of a firm with a growing leadership position in our industry."
Wolf says earning this recognition for a second consecutive year validates Meridian's underlying mission to create the industry's best environment for developing talented consulting professionals.
"Our best recruiters for both new consultants and new clients are our current associates and clients," he says. "Our firm earned this recognition based directly on positive associate feedback. Our consultants work very hard for our clients, but they can count on getting a rewarding career in return."
That's because all associates share in the mission to serve clients with excellence and in the rewards of our success, Wolf says. Contrary to some firms, Meridian places firm outcomes and results above those of the individual consultants.
"We attract people who want to work on interesting and long-term engagements," without excessive 'administrivia' or being burdened by well-intentioned, but time-consuming corporate initiatives, Wolf says.
"We're in our second full year of being an independent firm. The past 24 months have featured a number of activities to establish our brand, build our North American footprint, define consulting professional career paths and bring the full strength of our firm to each client engagement," Wolf says. "We owe our great progress to the collective efforts of many associates who share these same objectives."
Q&A: What's unique about Meridian Partners? What sets the firm apart from its competitors?
James Wolf, Managing Partner, says: "We put the needs of the firm above those of any individual consultant or partner. We're centered on our clients, rather than an individual star consultant. That's why our firm name does not include the name of any individual Meridian consultant. Any associate can earn his or her way into our partnership and any partner can become a Managing Partner.
We don't build around egos; we reward excellent client service and long-term board-level relationships and we provide opportunities for all consultants to meet their full potential in our field. Only two years after establishing our firm, we're seeing increasing signs that companies value our firm-wide business model over others that sometimes favored individual 'star' consultants. Our clients realize they need more than just a skilled and knowledgeable consultant—they need a firm with depth and breadth across diverse technical, design and market practice issues and across a number of consulting professionals."
