4) Cask
Every consulting firm likes to think they have a unique way of doing business that leads to outstanding culture. Many do, of course, but in the case of Cask, "unique" may be an understatement. At Cask, all employees have the ability to work remotely, work on flexible schedules, receive business cell phones or compensation, collect tuition reimbursement and stipends for fitness and internet connectivity. This, says Liz Guezzale, President of Cask, "allows everyone to do what they are hired to do without being micro-managed."
Cask makes sure consultants operate at their peak by "limiting the amount of externals surroundings they have to worry about by providing excellent benefits not only to them but their families, as well."
Guezzale also likes to build morale through company events such as "Cask Nights," which are held at local venues each quarter to bring together employees, clients and friends. The high point of these outings, she says, is an annual training trip to a travel destination. And every Cask employee is permitted to bring someone along for the experience, as well.
"Our employees all exude the same compassion for their jobs and are appreciative of the benefits Cask provides not only to them, but their families as well," she says "Nothing provides a greater ease than knowing a company cares for your spouses and children, as well as yourself."
And not only does the acknowledgement affect the company internally, but externally through clients and interactions with other firms, Guezzale says. "More companies want to work or partner with Cask since we have the notoriety of reported success from Consulting magazine."
Guezzale says one of her main objectives she sets out to accomplish year after year is to maintain the low turnover rate it currently enjoys. "Cask achieves a low turnover rate through the camaraderie we have, as well as the benefits we offer. Creating an environment that helps people thrive and feel taken care of keeps them continually coming back to work every day."
Meanwhile, when Guezzale looks at the future, she sees ample opportunities to grow into new federal and commercial markets as Cask expands its core capabilities and workforce. "We are constantly expanding the reach of our company through new practice areas and specialties to provide more jobs to the workforce as well as our nation's veterans," Guezzale says. "Some of the opportunities we see in the markets that we serve are customers seeking niche small business players who can offer agile, innovative solutions and strategies."
Q&A: What is unique about Cask?
Liz Guezzale, President of Cask, says: "Cask is unique because the employees do not have any status differentiation. We have open door communication top to bottom, which you can see when you walk through our offices you see everyone making a joint effort and enjoying themselves while doing so. Everyone works together and provides input to accomplish all individual efforts, including management. Our clients appreciate working with our consultants because they have senior level knowledge and work ethic. Not only are they efficient and open to different possibilities but they are energetic and pleasurable to work with."
