8) Carlisle & Gallagher
Carlisle & Gallagher is a newcomer to the Best Firms to Work For ranking, but the firm has been delivering top-notch client service for over a decade now. The firm makes an impressive debut, especially considering the amount of rapid growth it's undergoing.
CG has grown 300 percent since 2009, and just last year the firm increased its employee headcount by 78 percent, hiring and on-boarding some 350 new employees.
"Being recognized as one of Consulting magazine's Best Firms to Work For is an accomplishment that we're all very proud of at CG," says Bob Gallagher, President and CEO of CG. "We are, after all, in the people business, and this represents their vote. Our employees take pride in working at CG, and this survey gave them a chance to share it with the world. The results validate how much our people value the culture at CG and all the opportunities, reward, and recognition we provide."
And that's not just CEO talk. CG backs it up. The firm recently implemented a six-month promotion window instead of the typical annual review to incent employees, Gallagher says. "We reward outstanding performance, whether it's bringing in new projects and recruiting top talent or spearheading innovative training programs and pioneering creative approaches to working with clients," he says. "CG empowers employees to succeed with the skills, resources, and support they need to advance and expand their career and client opportunities. Quite simply, by empowering employees' success we fuel client success and satisfaction."
Which fuels growth, and that, of course, leads to even more opportunities. "Growth creates opportunities, opens new client project opportunities, and allows for the challenge and variety of work that attracts the best consultants," Gallagher says. "One of our top priorities over the next 12 months is to continue to develop leadership—"Multipliers"—leaders who use their intelligence to amplify the smarts and capabilities of the people around them."
Over the last two years, Gallagher says, CG has significantly expanded its customer base, and "the financial services consulting market is a $15 billion industry, and is projected to grow," Gallagher says. "I am excited about the growth opportunity for our business, but I am even more excited about the leadership opportunities it presents for our team and professionals who want to join us."
Q&A: On this year's survey, Carlisle & Gallagher excelled in the areas of Culture and Work/Life Balance. Why is that?
Bob Gallagher, President and CEO of CG, says: "We did not set out to prescribe a culture at CG. Instead we wanted to create an environment that empowered and supported all employees. We don't believe all the best decisions are made at the corporate level; we like the people closest to our customers and employees to advise and lead the company. In this environment, CG culture evolved organically into what we know and support every day.
Work/Life Balance is a challenge for everyone today. We want our employees and their families to be happy they're employed with CG. That means giving employees the time to do what's important at home and at work.
