Capco, a financial services advisory firm in New York, made its Best Firms to Work For debut two years ago at No. 14. This year, the firm climbs a spot to lucky No. 13.
Need an indication of just what morale is like at Capco these days? The firm set a goal to grow 25 percent in order to meet client demand.

Capco employees responded by giving their time in the evenings and on Saturdays to participate in interview nights and Assessment Center Days for recruiting purposes. "Their enthusiasm about Capco is our best recruiting tool," says Ismail Amla, CEO, North America at Capco.

"The quality, creativity and energy of our people excite us every day, and we will continue to let our people at all levels lead in creating our culture, innovating to help our clients achieve their goals, and defining what Capco will be next year, in five years and in 10 years," Amla says. "As we grow, we are committed to keeping the kind of environment where partners know people at every level and an individual's growth is limited only by their own aspirations."

Capco Headquarters And with the current state of the financial services marketplace, there should be plenty of opportunities for Capco employees to grow and succeed.

"We are excited about the challenge our industry faces and the opportunity we have to work with our clients and create the future of finance," Amla says. "With huge pressures on costs, need for regulatory compliance and drive for new revenue streams, all our clients are undergoing transformation—something deep in our heritage and where we believe we can play a material part for the Financial Services industry."

As far as the award, Amla says it helps recognize the people at all levels at Capco who strive every day to create a work environment where innovation, diversity, authenticity and the ability to think differently are encouraged and welcomed.

"This award inspires us to continue investing in our people," he says. "And it reconfirms for our clients that they engage with some of the best talent in the market—professionals who are as passionate about creating the next-generation consulting company as they are about creating the future of finance."

Q&A: What unique qualities do you think clients find in your consultants?

Ismail Amla, CEO, North America, says:
"We often say we are 'large enough to matter, but small enough to care.' We strive to remain an organization where everyone is valued as an individual, where people can be themselves and grow as fast and as far as their skills, experience, work ethic and aspirations will take them. For example, we have two promotion cycles per year so that high performers can move ahead in their career faster than peers at other companies.

A key differentiator for Capco is that there is little hierarchy; everyone has an opportunity to contribute. The size of the company offers unlimited access to our senior management and little bureaucracy provides opportunities for employees to get involved. Ideas are always welcome at Capco. An entrepreneurial spirit runs throughout the company and everyone's ideas are heard. At the same time, working for a global company offers myriad opportunities. With consultants and industry experts working side by side, Capco is at the forefront of thought leadership forming the future of finance."
