When the leadership of Booz & Company set its goals and strategies for the current fiscal year, it identified the firm's culture as the single most important factor that will determine its success, according to Cesare Mainardi, Booz & Company's managing director for North America. Therefore, being a Best Firms to Work For in 2010 "means that we are staying true to our commitment to doing the best for our people, by ensuring their professional development and celebrating their achievements," Mainardi says.
Two years after its historic spilt with Booz Allen Hamilton, it appears Booz & Company is finding its way as an independent entity. The firm is up from No. 15 last year and, overall, its survey scores improved pretty much across the board.
With the heavy focus on culture this year, Booz & Company set out to do something it had never done before—conduct comprehensive, in-person conversations with one-third of all employees about the firm's overall culture. "This
