To advance medical research and decision support, New York's Mount Sinai MedicalCenter needed a solution to integrate large volumes of patient data. So, Mount Sinai approached Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
Challenge: Patient data provides valuable insights into the causes of disease and the effectiveness of treatment, interventions and health care services. As one of the nation's oldest and largest healthcare service providers, Mount Sinai had sizeable patient data siloed in different systems spread across the center. They urgently needed a single central patient data repository that would provide accurate, updated and high-quality information.
Solution: Based on a Business Intelligence for Decision Support (BIDS) methodology, TCS delivered a data warehouse solution that provides a centralized global view of information for various clinical and non-clinical research. The solution also supports the data administration function to ensure data quality and integrity.
Result: Easy to access and manage, the new data warehouse provides a single 360-degree view of vital patient data and generates comprehensive, integrated reports. With increased efficiencies, the data warehouse is enabling research that would have otherwise taken many months longer, contributing to better decision-making ability and the advancement of medical knowledge.
