Sixteen years after it became the first Big 4 professional services firm to create an official program for the advancement of high-potential women, Deloitte has hit the milestone of exceeding 1,000 women in top positions at the firm.

"It is extremely rewarding to see the tremendous progress we have made since launching our Women's Initiative in 1993," says Barbara Adachi, national managing principal of Deloitte's Initiative for the Retention and Advancement of Women. When the initiative began in 1993, Deloitte had just 97 women partners, principals and directors.
