Capgemini unveiled Capgemini Consulting, a new strategic business unit and brand with more than 4,000 consultants in over 30 countries. The move is a response to increasing client demand for more global reach—both sector specific and issue related—across the group, says Pierre-Yves Cros, the CEO of Capgemini Consulting. As part of the move, Capgemini Consulting has formed three global practice networks—Strategy & Transformation, Operations Transformation, and Technology Transformation—to support its clients.

In 2008, consulting services accounted for 8 percent—or about $1 billion—of the Capgemini Group's total revenue. Three quarters of that revenue was in Europe, but the firm says it plans to significantly grow its North America, India and China consulting operations, according to Michael Schulte, North America Leader for Capgemini Consulting. Schulte is forecasting double-digit growth for North America this year and also said Capgemini Consulting would consider an acquisition to grow the North American business more quickly.

Meanwhile, Lanny Cohen, former CEO of North America is now the leader of Technology Services in North America for the Capgemini Group.
