Chicago-based Huron Consulting Group has announced it has acquired Nextmove, a Riyadh, Saudi Arabia-based consulting firm. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition is an effort to expand the company's Middle East presence and meet the region's increasing demand for health and education consulting services, says Gary Holodren, CEO of Huron.

Nextmove was founded in 2003 by Maher Kaddoura, a managing partner of Accenture prior to forming the firm. Nextmove has approximately 35 professionals with offices in Amman, Jordan as well as Riyadh and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Kaddoura said of his firm's acquisition, "My colleagues and I are very excited about the opportunity to join forces with Huron. Huron has excellent people with expertise and capabilities that are in high demand in this region, and we look forward to working together to provide quality solutions to our Middle East clients." In tandem with the acquisition, Huron opened an office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Huron's Health and Education Consulting practice has been working with U.S.-based hospitals and universities interested in pursuing global strategies, and advising health and education institutions in the Middle East as they grow to meet the increasing demands of developing economies. After recently completing projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia and Oman, Huron's acquisition of Nextmove provides another partner in the Gulf region to expand their services to a rapidly growing client base.
