Continental Expansion

How Europe Grew

The changed economic and social environment in Europe, including the push for globalization, is generating countless possibilities for innovation in most industries. This is giving the estimated 260,000 management consultants in 40,000 firms operating in Europe tremendous new opportunities, according to a report completed by the European Federation of Management Consulting Associations.
In 1999, as in the three previous years, European MC firms saw two-digit growth rates..

How European Countries Stack Up

Germany and England still represent the biggest markets, but nordic and southern European countries are reporting the most impressive growth, an average of 20%, and are catching up fast. This year, the top business opportunities for consultants include helping Bulgaria and Romania prepare for their entry into the European Union; privatization issues in the electricity, telecommunication, and transport markets in Greece; strategic planning and organizational development in Italy; and e-business for nearly all countries.
