Monday I wish A&P had more staff so we could lay them off and reduce costs. As it is, the only way we can break even is by not paying ourselves. Hard to explain this at home, where the cable bill, credit cards, mow-and-blow gardeners, mortgage, car payments, kids’ clothes, two mobile phone accounts, gas, water, electric, drinking water, groceries, and home insurance continue relentlessly to bleed me dry. I cheer myself up by firing the gardener.
