Life on the Edge
When Paul Spence tells a story, he sounds more like Indiana Jones than the chief operating officer for Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Asia/Pacific.
Once, Spence and his wife Maria took their two sons, Wes, 13, and Ty, 11, canyoning at the Grand Canyon in Australia. Wearing wetsuits and carrying backpacks filled with their gear, they jumped 20 feet into a waterhole that was only six feet wide. They plunged under and swam in an underwater cave for another 20 feet, popping up in total darkness to get air before continuing on.
"It's rather difficult, but it's a good time," says Spence, a 42-year-old Pennsylvania native.
The Spences have taken their sons rappelling, snorkeling, sea kayaking, sailing, and skiing. They have climbed the three highest monoliths in the world and trekked through a mile-and-a-half-long lava tube in the Gal
