Fans of Consulting's Rayne Maker column have read how his nemesis e-mailed a solicitation message to everyone in Rayne's database, which in turn was a virus that sent itself to all listed in the recipients' address books. As the e-mails and complaints piled up, Rayne's boss was not happy.

A technology glitch wreaked similar e-mail havoc for Razorfish Inc., the Internet consultancy.

The company reportedly sent out the first edition of an electronic newsletter to clients on its e-mail list in July. However, requests to "unsubscribe" did not just go to the firm, but to everyone on the e-mail list. Apologies from CEO Jean-Philippe Maheu followed.

We're hoping Rayne Maker's next diary includes a forecast for a strong economic comeback.
