Jose E.V. Cunningham has a unique way of learning about people of different cultures — he jumps into a pool with them.
"It's a great way to meet some of the locals," he says. At 43, Cunningham is the vice president of outsourcing sales for Cap Gemini America in Washington, D.C.
But Cunningham is not just doing the dog paddle in those waters. He is among his age group's top 10 male swimmers in the 50-meter breaststroke and the 50-meter freestyle in the world. Cunningham has done business in 42 countries and has competed in 18 of them.
