Operations and process improvement consultancy Thomas Group recently released its first quarter figures. In that timeframe, revenues for the first quarter of 2008 decreased $2.5 million, or 17 percent, to $12.4 million.

"The first quarter of 2008 was a challenging one for us. While revenue for our commercial business was up slightly compared to Q1 of 2007, our government business was down by 31 percent over the same period," says Earle Steinberg, Thomas Group president and CEO. "During the first quarter, we clearly did not respond quickly or broadly enough to the decline in our government business or to the disappointing results of our efforts to grow the commercial business rapidly."

These numbers come on the heels of Thomas Group's trouble earlier this month, when it announced it would be making staff cutbacks amounting to one-third of the workforce.
