based information management company EMC's recent purchase of consultancy BusinessEdge Solutions has led to the creation of EMC Global Services. The new business line will specialize in information lifecycle management, according to the firm.

"BusinessEdge's extremely talented professionals, world-class processes and deep industry expertise across key vertical industries enables EMC to rapidly establish a new practice within EMC Global Services that will help us to deliver more business value to our largest customers and partners and further accelerate the customer adoption of information infrastructure solutions," said Howard Elias, president of EMC Global Services and Resource Management Software Group.

According to the firm, EMC Global Services will be headed up by BusinessEdge's co-founders, Peter Gibson and Shailendra Jain, and will maintain BusinessEdge's existing client base, which is largely comprised of financial services, life sciences and communications, media and content industries.
