David Poole, North American BPO LeaderLast month, Capgemini unveiled new services and enhancements as part of an expanded Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) solution portfolio. This
expansion is focused on growth in North America.

One of those enhancements is what Capgemini calls Business Insight. This analysis-focused methodology includes customer analysis, spend intelligence, audit forensics, revenue recovery and leakage prevention, as well as ethical fraud testing and contract compliance.

Tony Kelly, global director of BPO product marketing for Capgemini, says there's huge potential for BPO in the U.S. and Canada, which represents 64 percent of the global $152 billion BPO market. And with its success in Europe, the consultancy already has a model that works.

"Capgemini," Kelly says, "plans to use its European tier one experience of excellence in conventional bottom-line focused BPO, together with our new and innovative Business Insight approach, to attain a tier one position in North America."

Kelly also said Capgemini is broadening its offerings to target additional opportunities in the North American BPO market, and to that end, now features two new services: BPO procurement services and assurance services for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Furthermore, Capgemini has created a new BPO business unit to be led by current deputy global BPO leader, David Poole. Poole will relocate to North America from Europe and assume the new role of North American BPO leader. Poole is responsible for driving, building and growing BPO opportunities in existing and new North American markets.

"The market potential is very strong [for] BPO solutions in [North America]," Poole said. "Our key goals are to increase awareness of Capgemini BPO solutions in the North American market and expand beyond our core strength of finance and accounting."

As for the client response to this expansion, Kelly says, "Our existing North American clients, particularly those with overseas interests, are already enjoying the significant operating cost reductions available from a global BPO service provider, and we've already seen the reaction in our sales funnel of potential clients welcoming a high quality, innovative BPO provider into the competitive mix."
