Accenture has named Walt Shill managing partner of the company's Strategy practice, effective immediately. In this role, Shill is responsible for the growth of Accenture's client services in areas such as merger integration, organizational and change strategy and strategic information technology effectiveness. The practice comprises more than 2,000 strategists in 40 countries, and has provided counsel for some the biggest mergers in recent times, including Cingular with AT&T Wireless, and Hewlett-Packard with Compaq. Shill, who has consulted with Fortune 1000 companies and private equity firms, joined Accenture in 2004 to lead Strategy's global Organization and Change Strategy practice.Prior to that he was President and CEO of Return Buy, Inc. and a partner at McKinsey & Company where he led the company's global post merger management practice. Shill has an M.B.A. and an M.A. in East Asian Studies from the University of Virginia, where he was a Shermet Scholar. He currently serves as a Batton Fellow at the Darden Graduate School of Business. Shill is based in Accenture's Reston, Virginia office.
