Take my suitcase, please!
We know of a salesman who traveled separately from his clothes. His bags went by UPS, while he opted for the more traditional route. (How do we know? We had to sign for it!) Apparently, there are others like him, and a company that caters to them all.
Luggage Express will come to your home or office, pick up your things, and bring them to your destination. Customers avoid the headaches involved with carrying and checking in their bags at the airport. People traveling to multiple destinations with various climates often ask the company to ship their bags for their second destination and send the first set home, says Cecilia Vesnesky, the company's director.
Since 65 percent of the company's business comes from families on vacation, most of its customers opt for the two-day service, Vesnesky says. Overnight service for a 30-pound bag averages about $105, while two-day service will run about $76. Sample quotes can be found at www.usxpluggageexpress.com .
The company is held to the same FAA standards as the airlines. However, at this time, Luggage Express doesn't ship pets. Hmmm, this could be the start of something … .
The Celebrity Citing
It was the sort of compliment that begged a response, explained Anand Radhuraman of Kurt Salmon Associates. Having just concluded a Los Angeles to New York flight, a striking woman seated beside him turned and remarked: "You are very nice for not harassing me."
