Halfway through his first three-year term as Bain's managing director, John Donahoe sees little reason to ease his foot off the accelerator.
The 40-year-old consultant, credited with fattening up the firm's New Economy credentials, is now tasked with steering the blue-chip consultancy through the charred wreckage of the dot-com collapse. It's a treacherous course, and one that's likely to shake up those partners who reside within a zone of comfort now referred to by more radical Bainies as the firm's status quo.
Whether it is convincing partners to pursue new client opportunities in different parts of the world or helping debunk myths associated with the latest blend of economic hysteria, Donahoe's coolheaded approach to business is expected to pay the profession, as well as Bain, more dividends to come.
