BRG has announced that prominent telecommunications economist Dr. Harold Furchtgott-Roth has joined as a senior advisor to its Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) practice.

“Harold is a widely recognized expert in economics and telecommunications industry. His advanced economic and analytical skills and deep experience bolster the existing strength of our TMT group,” said Raymond Kolls, a BRG managing director and co-leader of its Economics, Disputes & Investigations business line. “His insights across telecom industry mergers and acquisitions, spectrum reallocation, regulatory reform and deregulation will be an asset to clients navigating the complex challenges of Washington’s new regulatory landscape.”

Dr. Furchtgott-Roth is the only economist to have served on the Federal Communications Commission, where he was a commissioner from 1997 to 2001. Prior to that, he was chief economist for the House Committee on Commerce under then-Chairman Thomas Bliley (R-VA) and a principal staff member on legislation that became the Telecommunications Act of 1996. He has testified several times to Congress and has served on federal advisory committees.
