Turns out, there are really a lot of small, niche consulting firms out there doing some great things, and we hear from a lot of them each year around Seven Small Jewels time. We know because they flood our nomination inbox each year. As one might imagine, there are way more than just seven firms deserving of recognition in any given year. And this year was no different.

A bunch of firms stood out in the eyes of the editorial selection committee, but for one reason or another, just didn't quite make the cut. Some just haven't been doing what they do quite long enough to completely convince us they're here for the long haul. We like to cover all of our bases. But, we felt these outstanding firms needed to be noticed. So, here they are—this year's Seven to Watch. Often, these firms on this list end up as one of the Seven Small Jewels a year or two later. So, you might want to keep an eye on them; I know we will, that's for sure.

1. Audienz Audienz is a Seattle-based Strategy and Operations firm with additional offices in Los Angeles and Boston. The firm is 100 percent focused on the high-tech sector and has been putting together outstanding revenue numbers and growth rates—40 percent last year—with fewer people than one might imagine. A forecast of 43 percent would be the icing on the cake for landing Audienz as one of 2020's Seven Small Jewels.
