For over 15 years, David Fitzhenry—employee No. 3 at Trinity Partners—has been a trusted consultant on an extensive range of commercial strategy projects. His experience includes considerable work in global markets, as well as in-depth knowledge of the critical areas for new product development. He led Trinity’s consulting practice to more than 20 percent annual growth sustained over many years.

“When I first started at Trinity as the 3rd employee 20 years ago, I did not have a good sense of what consulting was, or even if I would enjoy the work,” Fitzhenry says. “I get to work daily with leaders in the life sciences, whose innovations change the way disease is treated throughout the world. Seeing those innovations and the impact they have on patients and families is the greatest reward.”

Fitzhenry says he realized a couple of things very quickly that have kept him motivated and driven to excel. “First, it’s all about the people—your clients and your colleagues provide so much motivation and drive. Second, finding a passion, which for me is science and medicine, has allowed me to stay committed to a greater purpose beyond the day to day of projects.”

Fitzhenry developed and implemented best practices for new product launch planning, licensing and acquisition due diligence, and forecasting. He conducted hundreds of licensing and acquisition due diligence assignments, including asset and company evaluations that resulted in billions of dollars in transactions.

“I’ve worked on some of the most important acquisitions and new drug launches in recent times, but what I am most proud of is that over the years of building Trinity we have created a continuous learning and mentorship environment with a heart,” he says. “We sometimes do work for non-profit NGOs with a focus on developing nations. This work is on top of our team’s day-to-day jobs, and consistently over half of our organization volunteers to be a part of the team. Seeing that commitment from our organization is truly the best reward.”

Over the course of 2017, Trinity has successfully expanded and reimagined its foothold in the life sciences consulting field. Trinity was ranked a Fastest Growing Firm by Consulting magazine for its growth. “We’ve made it our mission to ensure the Trinity team members contributing to this success know that without them, this wouldn’t be possible,” he says.

As far as being a Global Leader, Fitzhenry says it’s truly a reflection of the outstanding work at Trinity and the brand the firm has built. “Our presence in the industry has grown year by year, and is now at an inflection point where our brand is synonymous with great people who value partnership above all and provide outstanding insights,” he says.


Q&A: What’s been the biggest factor to your success?

Fitzhenry: “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the Trinity team drives me to do my best every day to contribute to our collective success. Building a culture of mutual respect with passionate, intellectually curious problem solvers has been the critical piece of our 20-year run of double digit growth, and it motivates me to play a part in maintaining that culture and growth.”
