Consulting: Can you sum up where your firm is today? 

Roth: Change is the one constant in our profession. It is how you rise to the challenge in the face of change that defines future success. For Huron in 2016, that meant expanding our capabilities across our businesses, and welcoming new members to the team through our acquisitions of MyRounding, the U.S. assets of ADI Strategies, and HSM Consulting. We unified our practices under a single brand, reinforcing our commitment to achieving meaningful change in partnership with our clients across the institutions, industries and communities they serve. And we reaffirmed our strong commitment to our people, our communities and our clients through the expansion of our community outreach and diversity initiatives.

Consulting:  What’s your firm’s outlook for 2017? 

Roth: We are optimistic about 2017, even as our clients’ markets become more competitive, their costs to do business increase and their road to profitability becomes more challenging. We will—as we always have—help clients confront their most pressing strategic, operational and technological challenges by being collaborative in the way we bring our services to market. We will further expand our capabilities and deepen our industry expertise to capitalize on opportunities in each of our core industries as well as in fast-growing or evolving commercial sectors, such as financial services and retail. And we will continue to expand our footprint to support our global clients who have operations across the globe.

Consulting: What do you see as the biggest opportunities for your firm in 2017? What do you see as the biggest challenges?

Roth: It is our clients’ challenges that spark our passion and create the biggest opportunities for our firm. While we are unable to predict the future, the things we know for certain are that our clients will be asked to deliver more growth, profitability and value in tougher, more competitive environments. And in turn, we’ll get to work alongside them to generate sustainable results by helping to find new revenue streams, scale their resources to meet demand and create opportunities that set the stage for their continued long-term success.
